Inspired by History and brought to you by Sophie Henry.
We are very lucky in that our shop and location are intertwined in the story of Scotland's famous Poet Rabbie Burns.
Many in the town are still unaware of the this little slice of local history and we love to tell the story. We are located in the lane that was once known as Buck's Head Close, with the closed off entrance to the old Buck's Head Inn directly across from our front door (see photo above). There is record of Rabbie's uncle Robert living in the Close in which local historians believe to be our shop. Rabbie visited his Uncle here many times and the story is he had a wee fancy for one of the barmaids in the Buck's Head Inn.
Unfortunately, there are no remnants the history of the building left inside the shop (except the low ceiling) as it has been modernised internally over the years, but we welcome anyone who would like to visit just to have a look and see one of the locations in Ayrshire where Rabbie Burns frequented.
We have produced a range of products that we believe capture the essence of the history of the Close perfectly.
